Top 5 Under the Radar Attractions

HomeFlorida Keys Top 5sTop 5 Under the Radar Attractions

If you are not one to follow the crowds, preferring to blaze new trails during your vacation explorations, your upcoming Florida Keys getaway promises to be an exciting one! Florida is more than orange juice, sandy beaches, and palm trees swaying in the breeze; it is a state with hidden gems, off the beaten path activities, and under the radar attractions, many of which we are excited to share with you today. This guide to our favorite five under the radar Florida Keys attractions you may not have knew existed guarantees that this vacation will be different than any others!

Anna Maria Island Attractions at Bean Point on Anna Maria Island

Every day is a serene new adventure when you spend your vacation hours exploring the beauty of Bean Point. Although the name comes from the very first permanent resident here on Anna Maria Island and no actual beans will be found here, after visiting for the first time, you may wonder why we chose this exquisite place as number five, especially as you discover your inner bird watcher, wade through crystal clear waters, and stake your claim on a very open white sand beach; the lack of crowds of tourists will make this beach your favorite out of the Anna Maria Island attractions! You can find this slice of paradise just north of City Pier, where an access point will be found at the intersection of N. Bay Boulevard and N. Shore Drive.

Wicked Dolphin Rum Distillery – Cape Spirits Inc., 131 SW 3rd Place

We have to be straight up with you about the Wicked Dolphin; it is currently number four on our under the radar attractions list, but only because it is relatively new and most people do not know that it exists yet! So, if rum is the spirit of your heart and you have a vague idea that a Florida Keys vacation sounds like a great idea, you may want to start making concrete plans now! Offering a large selection of small batch rums, each more flavorful than the last, their rumshine collection is destined to change your life! There are only two flavors of this potent nectar at the moment, strawberry and blueberry, but the local berries they use to sweeten each drink were obviously the right choice to make! Tours of the distillery are held every afternoon starting at noon, so go ahead and purchase your tickets now to beat the crowds you know will be there sooner or later.

Fallen Pine Ranch Miniature Horses, 16626 Winburn Drive in Sarasota

While this sweet farm is not on Siesta Key proper, it is just too unusual to exclude from our list! The Fallen Pine Ranch is famous for their miniature horses that grow to be not much larger than a Great Dane at full height, and we can’t help oohing and ahhing over each darling animal as if they were cute little kittens we could hold in our hands! Offering farm tours year round, the ranch has been a local tradition since the first few acres of land were purchased back in 1978; today there is over 40 acres and over 100 miniature horses which are as cuddly and sweet as they look! Be sure to add our number three attraction to your itinerary, and don’t be surprised when you suddenly find yourself with an urge to own a horse. The tours are by reservation only; reach out to the owners to set up your tour today!

Tropical Breeze Fun Park, 234 Santa Barbara Boulevard, Cape Coral

Family vacations can be the best experience of your life or the worst, but when you set aside some time for a visit to our number two attraction, the Tropical Breeze Fun Park, the words “best time ever” will loudly echo through your head! Home of the “World’s Longest Mini-Golf Hole,” this fun place may be your favorite part of your family vacation. Also offering an extreme outdoor laser tag game, if you choose to go, you need to remember to pad your schedule because no one is going to want to leave! Open every day of the year, only a tropical storm will end up closing these doors.

Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve, East End of SE 23 Terrace, Cape Coral

The natural side of Florida shines brightly at the Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve, offering walking trail boardwalks, kayaking adventures, and the opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of wildlife! And although most sightings will be of the benign variety, birds and raccoons, there are also snakes, mosquitoes, and a very distant possibility of catching sight of an alligator as well, so be prepared. The visitors center at the beginning of the preserve offers more in-depth information on what you can expect and picnic areas offer beautiful places to sit, dine, and enjoy the views!
