We all have our ideas of what the perfect Thanksgiving will look like but we at RentTheKeys believe that everyone will agree that there’s no place like the Florida Keys when you really are looking for somewhere to be thankful for. Offering a taste of summer at fall’s end and the peace and serenity of the sea, visitors will savor these moments of quiet fun and joyful adventures, storing up the memories like pieces of gold, knowing that the rest of this holiday season is destined to be frenetic, hectic, and so very, very busy. Our guide to spending your next Thanksgiving in the Florida Keys will give you a holiday you will never forget, especially when you choose our holiday hideaways for your vacation accommodations.
Thanksgiving Eve Party: Main Street Live in Bradenton
We can’t help but get excited about this early start to the holiday celebrations, and the town of Bradenton’s Thanksgiving Eve Party helps us let off a little steam before the big day begins. Offering live music, arts and crafts, food and drink vendors and so much more, this fun event takes place on Historic Old Main Street in the downtown area, and as fun as it is, the low key vibe, will ensure that you won’t tire yourself out before the fun of the holiday begins!
The Sun Rises on a Beautiful Thanksgiving Morn
Now, normally we wouldn’t think of suggesting waking with the sun, but on this day meant for thankfulness, we think a walk along the white sand beaches of Siesta Key will give you another reason to count your blessings. Watching the expansive skies cycle from midnight blue to all the shades of fire and ending up with the cerulean blue that matches the eyes of so many of our friends and family while the waves crash over sandy feet is an activity that needs to be experienced at least once in your life, and this Thanksgiving will be the ideal time for you to do so.
Gobble Wobble 5K in Cape Coral
We have never really done the math on the calories consumed during the annual Thanksgiving feast, because quite frankly we are more than a little afraid to do so, but for those inclined, taking part in the Gobble Wobble 5K in Cape Coral may help ease the pain. This 5K walk/run (there is also a virtual one if you don’t feel like going outside on this beautiful November day) will help you counteract all the calories you do imbibe and may make you feel better about yourself after. For those staying in our Sarasota/Bradenton/Siesta Key/Anna Maria Island/Longboat Key retreats, Sarasota also offers its own Thanksgiving Turkey Trot that includes a Kid’s Dash and a special Thanksgiving themed award.
Dining Out This Thanksgiving in the Florida Keys
The main event of Thanksgiving is the feast we just mentioned and although you could create your own, below we have listed a few places in the area that will be serving turkey dinners that are prepared, served, and cleared away by someone other than you!
• Brio Italian Grille, 190 University Town Center in Sarasota – Serving a traditional turkey dinner, Brio also will be offering to go orders of the feast, should you want to stay home and stay comfy.
• The Grill at 1951, 1951 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte – The traditional feast served here will fill your belly and feed your soul.
• Pier 22, 1200 1st Avenue in Bradenton – Reservations are recommended for the turkey day meal served at Pier 22, where waterfront views will aid in your delight of the experience.
These are just a few of the restaurants open on Thanksgiving Day in the Florida Keys and many more will be offering to go feasts, such as the one offered by Brio Italian Grille, that can be enjoyed in your holiday havens.
Friday Is for More than Shopping
Black Friday shopping is a tradition that you won’t have to skip, no matter where you are in the Florida keys and shopping centers such as the one at St. Armands Circle are definitely going to offer fantastic Black Friday deals. If you are looking for something different to do, however, Friday through Sunday after Thanksgiving is when the Annual Sarasota Seafood & Music Festival takes place, offering 3 days of music performed by local musicians, sweet and fresh seafood prepared on site, and arts and crafts for sale. Located at the Sarasota Fairgrounds, this is a great alternative to shopping.
