Siesta Beach

There will be plenty of opportunities to spend time at the beach during your Florida Keys getaway, and most beaches will offer everything you need, but we thought you would like to learn a little more about the places that will be your playground over the next week or so. Siesta Beach was actually ranked the number one beach in the United States by TripAdvisor in 2020, and we can promise that your time in the sun will be filled with all the fun you could ever hope for!

Siesta Beach is Located on Siesta Key

Beach life can be fun, no matter which beach you visit, but there is something extra special and dramatic about the sugar white sands of Siesta Beach, Florida and the clear turquoise waters they frame. Created from pure white quartz crystals, the sand even feels different—and softer—than the sand in other states, and we’re guessing it won’t be long before you slip out of your flip flops and bury your toes in its soft white granules! Visitors won’t have to worry about finding a place to park thanks to a large parking area, and if you forget a cooler filled with foods and beverages on an impromptu visit, concessions stands are available for food, drinks, and the occasional bottle of sunscreen. The beautiful Florida sun is bright and intense, and the coolness near the waters often makes guest forget that their skin is vulnerable, so the need for sunscreen is high!

Unlike some Florida beaches, Siesta Beach, Florida offers four lifeguard stations for your safety, in operation from 10:00 AM until 6:45 PM from Memorial Day through Labor Day, but if you are traveling during other times of the year, just pay attention to the different color flags that will be flying from poles along the beaches. Green flags mean good conditions for swimming, yellow flags signify moderate swimming conditions, red flags warn of hazardous conditions, and although you can still wade at the edge, you shouldn’t swim; double red flags signify the water is closed. In any case, as long as you pay attention to the warnings, your day on Siesta Beach is promised to be one filled with fun and relaxation! If you feel the need to explore what Siesta Key has to offer, however, free shuttle services allow you to do so without having to navigate unfamiliar traffic.
